A recent McKinsey study confirms what many of us have long felt: there is a serious problem in companies around the world. Good people - those who are really on fire, who go the extra mile, who keep the business running - feel massively under pressure and, above all, unappreciated.
Of course, there are the famous speeches. On anniversaries, at the start of the year, at big celebrations. Words about commitment, passion and going the "extra mile". But what happens in everyday life? Often: nothing. No recognition. No real signal that their contribution really counts.
These people, who always rise above themselves, no longer feel like it. They leave - or they reduce their commitment. They "level down" to what they have to, to the minimum. And who can blame them? What we forget: Every company lives from the people who let their hair down every day, who rock. Not by processes, tools or strategies - but by those few who give their all.

Not just at the big events, but regularly, authentically and concretely. Send a signal: Show that the extra is not only seen, but appreciated - and that it has consequences, such as better development opportunities or support. Create a culture of appreciation. So that those who give more are not treated as a matter of course, but as what they are: the heart of a successful company. So the question is not whether we can afford these people. The question is how long we can afford to ignore them.
